The Atlante's location is excellent being near St. Peter's, the Vatican Museums, public transportation and great shopping! The staff was friendly and professional. The room was wonderful and cool during the summer days & nights. The breakfast was ample and well done. While there may have been more than one English TV channel, it was great to have one source of world news weather. We are planning on returning to Rome in the future and staying at the Hotel Atlante again.

My state in this hotel met my expectations, the room was big enough although there was generally dark in the room as the ceiling was in dark wood and the electric light was very weak. But the beds were very comfortable. Only one chair for three persons was in our opinion to few (in the evenings we wanted to read a little bit - so no chairs and not enough light made it uncomfortable) but for one weekend we did not complain to much. The breakfast was perfect (if you were not very late - at the end of breakfast time there were some products lacking). The housekeeping was adequate. The only problem was the lift - very small, slow and working in a strange way sometimes - but fortunately we had our room at the first floor so we generally did not use the elevator. And the main reasons for which I chose this hotel was: 1. location - very near to Vatican and metro station 2. a restaurant with a view for basilica - it was really marvellous (although the prices were for our budget quite high. Generally I recommend this hotel to my friend who are looking for a nice hotel near Vatican.

The hotel was under renovation when we arrived. They did not have the room requested because the chambermaid was not available to clean it. The concierge was not on the main level (it was down one flight of stairs) so any strange person could just walk through the open door and gain access to any of the rooms/floors without anyone's knowledge. Our floor had bags of dirty laundry throughout the hallway. When assistance arrived for the myriad problems, the knock on the door was quick and the door opened immediately afterwards without waiting or warning. The mattress was thin and semi lumpy. There was a fly, mosquito and ant in the room. The tv was not operational. The door did not have a security bolt - did not make us feel safe. Floor was creaky and carpet worn and dirty.

Limited facitlities, place was in process of redecoration and access to stairs and landings were restricted. Laundry was left in bags in corridors for several days. Breakfast was good and service was fine. A taxi to airport was not booked for the time is was requested which delayed us 30 mins before getting off to airport. Overall value for money was good but this was not a four star hotel. The bedroom was fine if rather dark and poor lighting. The bathroom was in poor condition, chipped and cracked tiles on floor which were a hazard in bare feet. The bath leaked which flooded the floor when ever the shower wasd used. No plug in bath so using bath was not possible.

No room service. No direction on using the telephone. Registration clerk had no machine paper and we had to wait 20 minutes to check out and get a credit card receipt. We expected a room for 3 people but found a roll away in a room for 2. Not what we expected.
