Reviewer: Susan Gavaghan Date of review: 7 November 2006 Recommends this hotel: YES Room Hotel Facilities 4 Bed 5 Ambience 5 Cleanliness 5 Service 5 Room Size 4 Location 5 Amenities 4 Value for Money 5 The only problem was the lack of a lift which I understood as these are heritage buildings and very special to Edinburgh. My fiance and I each had 30kg suitaces so it was tricky. But once ensconced in our room we were fine. Incidentally my surname is now Mera and my email address has changed to: susanmera@bigpond.com I am a Scot who lives in Australia and who lived in Edinburgh during the nineties. The room was great. I stayed at the Ben Doran with my parents when I was a child so it was a very sentimental visit. I'm in my late fifties but the memories were with me still and I was not disappointed.
