The best part was the staff and the night manager were very helpful, the food was fair and it was located in the middle of a large shopping comunity. The bathroom was nice with a jetted tub. The down side was there was no parking and it was a tough job finding it because the hotel is not located on a drivable street, its on a walkway in the middle of the stores but you can drive around all the shoppers (not sure if that was legal) and unload your bags by the front door which is located on a side alley. The room we had didnt have an air conditioner or any fan and boy was it hot, but the night manager rounded up a table fan for us to use for the night. Over all the people were great and it is in the heart of a shopping area but hard to find, you can NOT see it from a drivable road and lacking in other areas. I have a picture of the hotel and the "street" its on but its to big for the download. Sorry
Basic, but all that was required
Hotel was very central and easy to locate, had a feeling of neglect but hard to spot the reason why. Room very small and corridors full of packed furniture so getting ready for an upgrade. Room too warm had to leave window open which was noisy. Booked for wrong night (my mistake) but booking system does not include 'day of the week' so did not realise until we arrived at the hotel, had to pay the additional night but were given it at the same good rate. Adequate for the price.
I have never seen such a poor management system like this hotel before. The hotel arranged a single room for us even I stated when I booked the room that the room was for 2 people. When I asked to change the room, the hotel's staff ask me to pay an extra charge even it was not our fault. The hotel confirmation clearly stated that the room I booked was a double bed room. The hotel boast that it has a multimillion pound project to renovate the hotel by dividing into 3 phases. In the first phase, they spent over one million pound on the out of date door lock and smoke detector in the small and dilapidated hotel. The result of the new door lock that the hotel has boasted was we needed to activate a key card everyday evening after we went outside. Moreover, the 2 suck elevators in the hotel are absolutely slow and also guide you to travel the other floor you didn't select before you get your target. I would not recommend the hotel to anyone.
Wallpaper loose behind curtains gives a poor impression.
A bit creepy and threadbare; tried to check in at 1:30, was told they didn't have my reservation-I presented my HC voucher, and they said 'ok', but I couldn't check in until 2:30. When we returned in the evening, no problems. Not overly helpful, but nice enough people. Room faced the street, so very loud well into the night. Smelled of 'old hotel' and smoke, even though it was a posted no smoking room. Very dark.
Room was extremely noisey. The gentleman on one side was speaking loudly on the phone till 12.30am and then the occupants of the otherside came crashing in at 5am - turned on their television and had a party. I rang reception and a member of hotel staff asked them to keep the noise done; the TV was turned off but there was still a lot of noise from talking/laughing. The rooms just seemed to have very poor sound insulation. Requested a hairdryer three times - but still did not get one. Apperantly all hairdryers had been lent out and not returned. The information on the hotel stated each room had a hairdryer.
