Friendly staff with a good bar and restaurant best breakfast we have had in Europe, would def stay again

My room was fairly large compared to other European hotels I have stayed in, with nice private bathroom with heated towel racks. Breakfast was above average and hotel personel was very attentive. About a 5-7 minute walk from the train station - so suggest your luggage has rollers. Old city was a little bit if walk, but you walk along the river, so it it very pleasant. If I ever get back to Salzburg again in the near future, I would very likely stay there again.

But the beauty of the place lies in the fact that staff are exceptional in the way they relate to clients. The dinning room is very pleasant and the food variety is very good... presented nicely. Travelers will find that apart from great breakfast smorgas-board at their table they will have a big jug of brewed coffee, not one that they have to get from some expresso machine. Salzberg Nokrel is the kitchen's specialty and it is a treat in this Hotel. Rooms are clean and fairly basic, but quiet even though its in the heart of Salzberg and close to the main railway. Windows must be doubleglazed as we have not heard much noise.

We chose this hotel because of its location - It is a 5 minute walk from the station but if you come from the airport the number 12 bus stops across the street (don't get off at the station like we did) and going to the airport the bus stop is right outside. The Aldstat (old town is a very pleasant 15 minute stroll away via the Mirabel Gardens) The hotel is well run with polite and helpful staff, the breakfast is an amazing experience with an excellent choice of both hot and cold dishes - stock up and save money on lunch. The evening menu was adeqate and not too expensive but really you should go search the old town for a myriad of bistros and restaurants of all types and prices. We would definately stay at the Steigel if we return
