The hotel reception not easy to find - up a flight of stairs. Not recommended if you can't carry heavy bags up narrow staircases. No lift. One of our 3 rooms was not made up, had to get another. The rooms were not very big, in need of repair and redecoration. Shower took ages to get warm and very small. Hairdryer didn't work. Saying that, the sheets were clean and crisp, changed every day. Breakfast was great, even though the ceiling had a shower of water coming through each morning because of the rain. Location was excellent. Had great fun in the Met Bar downstairs. Overall the 6 of us had a great time.
Would recommend Clifton Court for weekend break

Clifton Court Hotel is situated in the heart of O'Connell Street area, making easy access for shopping, sightseeing & pubs. We stayed there on 2nd-4th May 08, although the rooms are a bit "tired" they are clean, and suited what we wanted. The staff could not do enough to help us, they were very polite & courteous, and very knowledgeable about the area, buses etc.. I would definately recommend this place for a weekend break asit suited our needs in every way, and the breakfast's were filling, hot and tasty. There is food available for lunch and dinner in the bar below the hotel which looked nice & clean, although we did not try this as we were out and about.
Good hotel in the heart of Dublin with fair price
PRO: - Situated along Liffey river and 200 m from O'Connel street i.e. at the heart of the city. - Clean - Quiet - Good breakfeast. - Live music in the hotel pub - Good price CON: - No lift - Many stairs
You Get What You Pay For
I booked this hotel for a party of 10 for a stag weekend with my son. The hotel was the cheapest I could find including all of the hostels that I could find and was cheaper than the travel lodge near the airport. The hotel is situated right by the river Liffey and is with easy walking distance of the shopping and the night life located around Temple Bar as well as the Guinness brewery. We arrived at the hotel at around 13:15 and the friendly receptionist told us that our four rooms would be ready just after 14:00. The rooms were basic and typical of a Blackpool boarding house, cramped but clean. The cleaner was still in the one room and was on her hands and knees scrubbing. The bedroom furniture was old and marked but perfectly adequate, the carpets were clean. The shower room and toilet was small but adequate and plenty of hot water although the shower leaked but a towel soon fixed that. The rooms at the front of the hotel can be noisy from the road and the bars down stairs but the rooms in the middle and back were surprisingly quiet. Breakfast was served in the breakfast room, surprising that, and cereals were diy as was the cakes, Danish pastries and fruit juices. Order your cooked full Irish breakfast off the menu which offers other hot food including a limited vegetarian option which is cooked to order and served to your table. Down stairs is the bar area with two entrances off Eden Quay and there are two bars with plenty of well worn seating providing a typical Irish atmosphere. Table service is available and the prices over the Bank Holiday weekend were less than 5 euros per pint. There is also a food menu offering a limited but hot and acceptable food was adequate for us all including a vegetarian. At night there is live Irish music on a small stage area which goes on until after midnight. The bars close late around 2 in the morning. In the basement is a club for the over 21 gentlemen with admission for us was free just pay for a dance starting at 20euros. Overall a good basic, CHEAP hotel and you get what you pay for and not one of us complained about anything that the hotel had to offer.
