Overview
 Convento do Espinheiro Heritage Hotel & Spa Evora is a luxurious hotel located in Evora - classified by UNESCO as a "World Heritage City." The building was originally a convent dating back to the XV century, and considered a national monument. The origins of the hotel are connected to a legend that tells of an apparition of the Virgin Mary above a thorn-bush (espinheiro) around the year 1400. In 1412, a oratory was built in honour of Our Lady and finally in 1458, during the reign of King Afonso V, and due to increasing pilgrimage, a church and convent were built and settled by monks of the Order of St. Jeronimo.

It is now a magnificent 59-room hotel, set in a beautiful garden area of approximately eight hectares. It's picturesque surroundings make it the perfect spot for enjoying the Portuguese countryside. The old meets the new in the restaurants and lounges. A gourmet restaurant is located in the old wine-cellar, a bar in the old kitchen used by the monks, and an old water deposit was converted into a wine tasting and gastronomy savouring area.
