The shower was a lower wall mounted apparatus that needed to be hand held to shower. There were no tea and coffee making facilities, a seemingly everyday facility in most other hotels. The choice of tv channels in the rooms was extremely limited although this is a minor detail. On a positive note, the buffet breakfast was well stocked and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The hotel itself is fairly conveniently located for the business district and gives easy access to the shopping facilites just across the river.

All in all, very good value for money. Do make sure, though, that you have the booking confirmation printout with you, or they might try and charge extra for breakfast. I would also question the claim that "The hotel offers guests a wonderfully quiet oasis from the bustle of the city". The hotel itself is very calm and peaceful, but rue de Marseille is not. Trams run along it from early in the morning till late at night. In theory, the double glazing should cut out the noise, but as the hotel is not air-conditioned, and the temperature in the shade was well into the 30s, we had to leave the window open.

Ours was like concrete! The hotel is quiet and friendly with excellent breakfasts. Its situation is perfect for strolls around Lyon and walks into the old town and is in the old Arab quarter, now dominated by the University. Very relaxing and I parked (free) outside.
