Hotel Du Theatre Zurich is an elegant 3 star Design Hotel is situated in the heart of Zurich, at the gates of the Old Town and only a few minutes walk from Zurich's main railway station. A house with a past which harboured an important German-speaking Broadway style stage in the 50's, is now an elegant city hotel.
The unostentatious six-story building that housed both a hotel and a theatre was erected at the beginning of the 1950s on a narrow plot of land. Years later, the cinema Alba moved in and to this day functions as a successful arthouse cinema. The hotel guests can relive the hotel's theatrical past both as spectators and participants since the plays that were performed over 40 years ago are omnipresent as an art form, thanks to modern technology.
It is not only the in-house cinema that caters to guests' desire for relaxation and cultural entertainment. Literary entertainment is provided through audio books/audio dramas that, depending on one's mood, narrate dramatic, suspense-packed or humorous stories.

The fifty rooms of the Hotel Du Theatre Zurich are each furnished with individual designer pieces and present a harmonious and light-hearted blend of honest design with playful elements. The trapezium-shaped building means that every room has a different shape.
The Hotel Du Theatre Zurich has a breakfast room with a view on the busy city life and the nostalgic Polybahn (funicular railway). Treat yourself to a substantial breakfast in a typical urban atmosphere. The breakfast room, resembling a box at the theatre, overhangs the glass-fronted lobby, forming part of the stage-like hotel entrance. Smoking and non-smoking areas are provided.
Their "La Suite" Lounge in the first floor, with a magic view over the Polybahn and the busy city, combines modern ambiance with the old tradition of the theatre. Rummage in the brochure of some staged plays and admire the modern images of the old scene. A wonderful place to start an evening or to chat at the end about the last hours.

this is a bad hotel that I will not recommend ; no reception ; they charge full price instead of the attractive price announced on the web site and they had the break fast.
