Plenty of restaurants nearby for dinner. We had a large tripple room. Hotel is on the first floor and has no lift, so luggage has to be carried up.

it was a wonderful weekend Reviewer: stephen grey williamson Date of review: 5 October 2007 Recommends this hotel: YES Recommended for: Business, Leisure, Romance, Families, Singles, Couples Room Hotel Facilities 5 Bed 4 Ambience 4 Cleanliness 5 Service 5 Room Size 5 Location 5 Amenities 4 Value for Money 5 i booked my reservations with your hotel over the internet a week before my arrival to your great city. the total price for my 3 night, weekend stay was 201 euros. it also included a super breakfast. my room was larger than i thought it would be and the gustave klimpt poster in the room was a fasinating beginning to the 7 art museums that i visited during my stay. the staff at the front desk and in the breakfast room were very nice and helpful and their directions and knowledge of the city was right on. the housekeeper, each day kept my room spotless. the neighborhood around the goldener baer hotel was so inviting that i ate all of my three evening meals there. the walks after dinner, after dark were as relaxing as they were safe. this was my second trip to vienna and i would not hesitate to stay at the goldener baer hotel on my third visit. thank-you for being my home away from home. sincerely, s.g.williamson atlanta.ga. usa

It gives a somewhat outdated impression, with considerable needs of internal renovation (the carpets in particular). The staff was helpful when approached but not exactly welcoming. The breakfast was limited but adequate. For the price, it's a convenient place to sleep but seems to be under par compared to similarly priced hotels in the outskirts of the inner city.

The receptionist was tired and stressed and was having a problem because the people before us had a confirmation but no room. She did not greet us at all. She did not smile. In Austria generally this is very unusual. People always smile and are very polite. The room was ok, the paint and carpet were a bit tired and old and carpet was not clean.

Everyone who came to visit made the same comment. It would have been ideal to have a full length mirror in the room.
