Set in a five-acre garden of orange and lemon groves, Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria Sorrento is a luxurious 19th-century hotel which is centrally situated off Sorrento's main Piazza, in a cliff-top position overlooking the Bay or Naples. Built at the site of the Roman Emperor August's villa, the hotel consists of three connecting buildings featuring ornate frescos, marble and trompe-l'oeil murals. Pompeii is 30 kilometres away, and Naples International Airport is 50 kilometres distance, an approximate driving of 75 minutes.
Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria Sorrento' orange and lemon groves surround an outdoor marble freshwater pool with complimentary sunbeds, parasols and towels. The holistic centre, set in a converted greenhouse, offers treatments including Japanese water therapy and algae wraps.
Dining options at the hotel include formal dining in the elegantly decorated restaurant with marble walls, bas relief carvings and trompe l'oeil frescoes, and al fresco dining on the summer terrace with panoramic views of the Gulf of Naples. The Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria Sorrento has a private lift down the 50 metre-high cliff to the Sorrento waterfront where boating is available.
The 98 guestrooms, over three adjoining buildings, feature elegant decor with floral frescoes, trompe-l'oeil murals, restored 19th-century ornate antique furnishings and marble bathrooms. All offer balconies or terraces with views over the bay of Naples or the gardens and orange groves. we wre b&b, so I can only comment that we thought the bfast could have been a bit more extensive, more choice of fruit, hot foodetc. And the mushrooms were awful! A part form that it is a lovely hotel, with a real timeless elgance. The pool area was ...
