This is a review of hotel lope de vega because although we were booked into hotel el prado, when we arrived they said there was a problem with the water in some rooms and asked us to go to their sister hotel, lope de vega. it was only about 5 minutes
... walk away. our details had been forwarded on so there were no problems and the staff at both hotels were very helpful.
the room had most of the amenities that we wanted. tea making facilities would have been good, but don't seem to be standard in spanish hotels.
we were mostly interested in sleeping, having just flown from new zealand. there were no problems with noise, although we had heard that this could be an issue.
the location was excellent for us - close to restaurants & bars and to the atocha rail station which we needed the next day. it is also close to the botanic gardens, museo del prado etc.
we paid the same price as for the el prado but from the web it looks like lope de vega is more expensive, so we may have got a good deal.
i would recommend it to anyone who is ok with the price range.
