Hotel Hesperia Lucentum Alicante - great location Reviewer: Leslie Cook Date of review: 19 May 2009 Recommends this hotel: YES Recommended for: Business, Leisure, Couples Room Hotel Facilities 4 Bed 5 Ambience 5 Cleanliness 5 Service 5 Room Size 4 Location 5 Amenities 4 Value for Money 5 This hotel is in a great location for exploring the city and very close to the FGV railway station (Mercado) to Benidorm and Denia (only 1 block and 3 minutes away - don't believe the guides that tell you the best station is located down by the harbour - Maro!). It is also convenient for the restaurant areas, shopping, visiting the Castle and the harbour for those moderately able bodied! In fact nothing is more than a 10 minute walk away and it is only 15 euro by taxi to the airport. The Hotel Hesperia Lucentum is also directly opposite the largest daily market which is well worth a visit before 1pm. The breakfast buffet contains all you will need inc Full English, cold meats / cheese, pastries, fruit, yoghurts etc. Try bartering on price at check-in, we got discount from 12 euros to 9.5 per head. Reception staff very helpful and for those with less than fluent Spanish, they speak good English - my wife left some newly purchased shoes in a local restaurant and the reception staff helped the next morning by finding the telephone number and calling to check for us - we did retrieve them later that day. As for the rooms, adequate size for a 5 day stay and amazingly, a higher number of coat hangers that you would normally expect. While the bathroom was bijou, it had a good bath / shower and the usual accessories with a heated mirror. While we had a room overlooking the main street, (lot of traffic from early morning), the glazing keeps 90% on the noise at bay and we were not disturbed. If you are keen fitness enthusiasts I would not recommend this hotel - it's all on the 11th (top) floor and the sauna or Jacuzzi had soaked the corridor, it was deserted and there is no access allowed to the roof terrace - health & safety police rule!! Overall would recommend this hotel but it is not for those who prefer to spend long hours utilising the facilities - more for sleep, breakfast and being a tourist all day, or on business.

The rooms are clean and adequate although the house keepers skimp on the freeby's. ie shampoo and shower jel and chocolate as the room was booked for a double occupancy there was only one of each. At 12 euros a head, breakfast was too expensive. The Hotel was chosen for it's nearness to the Theatre, is very central so it is very easy to breakfast localy in one of the many bars for much less. I would not recommend this hotel as a family hotel, and believeve it would appeal to the likes of me who have grown up children and like the peace and quite of this Hotel.

I like the hotels, its location and ambience, but the lack of information and time wasted was irritating.

The appartment are confortable and of an average size. The hotel location was however the main attraction of this hotel Overall, I would recommend stying at this hotel.
