Built in 1898, just a stone's throw away from the Place de la Comedie, the Holiday Inn Montpellier was once the residence of Queen Elena of Italy and still preserves something of its comfort, charm and style. Located in the heart of Montpellier, it remains the cream of hotels in the Herault region. The hotel underwent a radical renovation in 1998 but still retained the charming interior garden and the original detailing.

The hotel is ideally located being only a few metres from the station. I chose it for this reason: on earlier visits I had always stayed nearer the centre of this beautiful city.
