We called ahead to confirm if parking was available due to the fiestas, the reception told us that the hotel parking was full. We found parking but could not find our way to the hotel on foot, when my wife who is Spanish, called for directions the desk staff did not know where we were in relation to the hotel. Actually we were about 200 meters away & thanks to the lovely, helpful people of Bilbao we finally found it! We recieved a rather cold reception upon arrival, with no welcome, have a nice stay or any of the normal courtesies. Inside the main entrance the garbage cans were overflowing with some brown liquid leaking from one right by the door. The room was fine, clean, but the bed was awful, very lumpy and squeeky. Upon checkout we experienced the same lack of.. I can only say feeling and interest. The hotel is in a great location with lots of nice little bars and restaurants close by. Also we found the room very quiet even with the fiestas in full swing.

The day reception staff were all polite and helpful. However, the receptionist, who handled our late arrival and check-in was brusque and indifferent holding a conversation with another guest whilst trying to deal with our formalities. He failed to tell me that I was in a smoking room. I had requested a non-smoking room. The room that I was allocated was for smokers. On the first night, there was a smell of cigarette smoke both in the room, and on the bed linen. As I am a non-smoker, this upset me. Although I was offered a non-smoking room for the second night, I had already unpacked and it hardly seemed worthwhile for one night, given that we were absent from the hotel for most of the day. However, this hassle could have been avoided if I had been given a smoking room in the first place, or an adequate explanation given as to why it had not been possible.

Good facilities for the tourist. Not sure if there was internet access etc for the business traveller Very comfortable and well presented room
