The only problem that my wife and I had during our stay were the different charges that taxis charged for the same service. I have notified the Taxi Company about this problem. There is a concern that we noticed in the Ibis Hotel......Something must be done about the elevator. There is a significant noise during a stop of the elevator. We were concern about the safety of the elevator. Finally, we enjoyed the Breadfast's and the prices for the meal.

A convenient location, the rooms are just about adequate, no longer any shower caps in bathroom and no biscuits with the tea/coffee.

The staff was very welcoming and friendly, and the food was excellent. The location was good as it was just across the road from the trainstation, and walking distance from the town centre. The room was nice, with internet access on the tv. I enjoyed my stay, and is definately staying there next time I'm in Southampton.
Online booking issue
This hotel was very good value. It was fairly basic but the service was excellent and of course it was a long way cheaper than most other hotels. However, there is a problem when you are making a booking online. When booking a room for two persons there didn't seem to be any clear way of indicating whether the person making the booking wanted two single beds or a double bed. We travelled as a party of four individual men and booked two rooms only to find that when we arrived (after 12 midnight) the rooms only had one double bed each. This meant that the two men in each room had to share a double bed - its a good job that we all knew each other really well and got along! However, the manager, Michael, was excellent and promised us that if we managed for the first night he would have us sorted with individual beds the next day. The next day he had us sorted as promised and even gave us vouchers for a complimentary drink. For the record I had rang the hotel on the morning we were travelling to the hotel to ensure that our booking was fully confirmed and no one queried the double bed problem - next time I will follow the booking up with a phone call re beds. The rest of the holiday went perfectly and we have no complaints. The attitude of the staff was one of courtesy and a genuine eagerness to look after us. I have stayed in a number of Ibis hotels, including the Ibis in Portsmouth and have always found them excellent value for the money. If you want good value at a reasonable price then the Ibis is the way to go.
Happy Travellers
This was a stop of convenience, having just flown in from Dublin and planning to get the train to Waterloo Station and on to Paris in the morning, the Ibis was in the ideal location for us to walk to the station with all our luggage. Our rooms were roomier and nicer than almost any we stayed in throughout our two week holiday. And the price was good. Thank you!
ibis hotel at southampton, august 2007
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. One of my friends shared the room, with me, so the room was comfy and large enough. Light and airy. Great to have both a bath and a shower, since many places only offer a shower, when sometimes you really want to relax in a bubble bath! Although it had been a rainy day, when I checked it, staying there, certainly made me feel at home. We were part of a dance troupe going down to Southampton docks/cruise ship. later on. That was an excellent event in itself. The breakfast was lovely, very leisurely, and a choice of English and continental. I loved the French feel to it, and there were a mixture of British and International guests. Friendly atmsophere. I have stayed at other Ibis hotels around the UK, so I know what to expect. Love the late check- outs and late breakfasts!!! ( continental style ) Definitely coming back- excellent value for money. Easy to find from the train station, near to the shopping. Thanks!! Maureen
