Still, the reality was less than our expectations: two narrow single beds, a single window too high up to reach, a "drop-in" bathroom unit, two measly packages of liquid soap, two small towels, a (very clean) floor that squeaked, no lighting other than a single bulb on a very high ceiling (not a problem during the summer, but perhaps a problem during winter darkness), long stairways to the 3rd floor (no elevator -- this is not the place to stay if you have a lot of luggage). Staying "in jail" was fun for a single night, but I wouldn't choose it for longer. But given the high prices everywhere else in town, it sufficed. One complaint: The woman at check-in refused to accept credit cards. She said the system was temporarily down. I said that maybe it would come up shortly and we'd just wait to check in. She said no, it had been down for months. This seems unlikely. More likely, she just didn't want to accept credit cards. It wasn't a problem to get cash from an ATM, but was an inconvenience and a nuisance. Stay here if you'd like the fun of telling people you stayed in a renovated jail. Just don't expect too much.
