Jailhotel Loewengraben Hotel Lucerne is the first Jailhotel in Switzerland. The historical building was built in 1862 and it was used as a prison until autumn 1998. The property is where prisoners attempted to escape for more than 135 years, today, tourists and residents of Lucerne enjoy the unique atmosphere of the Jailhotel and the hotel in house bar, Alcatraz Bar. It seemed like it would be fun staying in former jail and we didn't expect much. Still, the reality was less than our expectations: two narrow single beds, a single window too high up to reach, a "drop-in" bathroom unit, two measly packages of liquid...
