I marked both ambience and location down because of the frontage of the hotel. The ambience in the hotel was fine. The actual location of the hotel was good to get around Athens. However the front of the hotel is down a side street. The street was filthy and we had to walk down the road to avoid the rubbish. Also the pavement was dangerous. The hotel is in a mixed immigrant area with many Asian and African people on the side street in which the hotel is located. Although this did not concern me my wife was nervous when we returned to the hotel in the evenings. The hotel may have cleaned the immediate space outside their doors but I could not tell. I understand that it is Greece and the Athens authority are responsible for the condition of the side street however it would not cost the hotel much to get the pavement repaired and to ensure that the rubbish in the street is cleared away. It would be good to have a kettle in the room and tea bags to make a drink. We are vegetarian and we could only have a salad from room service. We asked for a pizza with not meat but they said no.
