Closely located to the hotel is the 17th century grand theatre " La Fenice ", which being the most important and impressive public theatre receives its name. Inaugurated at the end of 1700 it is destroyed by fire 1834. Restored to its original splendor, during the 19th century it is again host to opera debuts such as Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi (1851 ). In 1996 it is again reduced to ashes by fire. The reconstruction of this jewel in the city built on water continues today.
