One night coming back from a restaurant I bumped into one of them on the road near the hotel and he deigned to tell me that he knew my room number and from that point on I was very ill at ease for the rest of my time there and I found myself going out early to eat so that I would be back in my room before the restaurant closed at 9.00 just in case I would bump into the same waiter again. I just felt it was a bit unprofessional compared to the other hotels that I stayed with during the 3 weeks in Italy where none of their waiters acted like that. I met one or two who had the same sort of experience with the waiters at the hotel also. They did not have a record of the booking when I arrived and so I was given a standard double room under ground which was below the reception and breakfast room and it was very noisy at night. Also early in the morning being woken up very early by the restaurant staff wheeling trollies across the floor in preparation for the breakfasts.
