My first time at the Mespil Hotel

On my arrival at the Mespil hotel by car I was to be disappointed to find out that I would have to park my car down a side street. A three minute walk to the hotel with quite a lot of luggage was required. On completing the check in, once the elevator reached our floor level we had a long walk to our room at the very end of the corridor. This could be viewed as a good thing as it meant that we would not experience much noise from other residents. The room was large for my fiancee and I which also had a reasonably sized bathroom. The bed, carpets and bathroom were clean although a seat in the room was in a poor state, it was stained which should not have been there. The staff were courteous and helpful when I needed directions. I think the hotel was overpriced to say that it did not include breakfast in the price. If I didn't have much choice I would stay again, but there are cheaper hotels that include breakfast and are of a similar standard.

Had no running water one of the morning.

The food was very poor in the bar. It was over priced and we left 3/4 of it on the plates. My husband had a pint of Guiness which was pulled in one go. So one sip was taken out of it. I had a glass of carlsberg which was completley flat. Also I sip taken out of it. The room cost 175 euros for one night, we expected the room to be very nice, it was only ok, My deposit that I paid when booking wasn't taken off the price when i paid when I left. I only realised after leaving the hotel. I wouldn't stay here again, too expensive for what it is. There was hair in the bath. Fixtures in the bathroom were very dated.
We enjoyed our stay at The Mespil Hotel and look forward to booking future reservations when in Dublin. Thank you to Holiday City for making all the arrangements for us.
Front end staff very helpful. Very well maintained room.
