Our room was in the lodge, about 50 meters away from hotel. Room was large and high, but pretty cold and not very cosy. Good location, if you are traveling with car.

We were staying at Murrayfield Htl for the Rugby Sevens 2008. For this purpose an excellent location to stay as the Hotel is situated on the opposite of Murrayfield Stadium. Plenty bus connections to Edinburgh city center which is only 15 min. away. Furthermore excellent breakfast and friendly staff. Our room was quite small but it was clean. The bathroom was very clean as well + the shower was lovely and spacious. We only stayed one night and we had a great time in Edinburgh and Murrayfield Hotel. Defenitely recommend it, more so to Rugby fans!

Under "room" I wrote about the traffic. The location however of the hotel was good; the city centre within reach in many ways. The room was recently decorated and furnished. You still could smell the paint. It looked beautiful. Below the room was the entrance of the hotel, and it was a pity that we could not "blind" the windows during the day, other then with the (dark blue) curtains. The (sometimes heavy) traffic passes all day and night right in front of the hotel and so also the room, which is very noisy during the night.

The bar is rather modern for a Vivtorian hotel and os out of character witht the rest of the building. My booking with Holiday City was for two rooms (second guest Tim Waye). When I confirmed the booking with the hotel they had only one room reservation, fortunately they did have spare rooms.

The room was rather small and poor. The wallpaper was ruptured, the washstand was teared up etc.
