Pleased with the hotel so we returned for the races 2008. The stay this year was as good, if not better than last year. A special mention for all the staff - nothing was too much trouble for them - this made our stay very enjoyable - so good that we have already booked to return next year

Even though the street is not very appealing, getting to Victoria Station for the tube and Gatwick Express was a cinch! The lights in the room did not work independently from each other. For example, the desk light wouldnt work unless the light outside the bath was on. Also the lightbulb socket in the bed lamp was loose so the light would go on and off by itself. The hair dyers hose in the bath was broken in many placeds and needed replacement.

It doesn't, and I ended up paying GBP12 for overnight parking at the station, several hundred yards from the hotel.

Hot Breakfast was also not very good and too small

Tables not cleared quickly enough and had to wait for cups for coffee, cutlery and juice machine to be refilled. This greatly improved on 2nd morning - may have been some complaints from other guests on checking out. Although not a huge room was ample for the length and purpose of stay.

Hotel was nice and modern. Room had very thin walls and could very easily hear people walking around on the corridor outside early in the morning. Otherwise quite a comfortable room.

There were no drawers to put clothes away and the "wardrobe" was inadequate for anything more than a one night stay. Living out of suitcases for 3 days was not a good experience. I will return to York, but probably not to this hotel.
