This is is a great little hotel, quiet but centrally located, near rail and bus stations and the best shops in Glasgow, handy for walking tours and bus tours. Staff in Reception were particularly kind and helpful. Breakfast was good but the staff in the restaurant seemed a bit disorganised (They need tighter controls at the entrance ). North Americans should be aware of the showers - VERY hot and difficult to adjust!
Good value for money
The location of the hotel is excellent - walking distance to Queen Street Train Station and to Buchanan Bus station. The Tourist Information Office is also very near, in George Square, 3 minutes walk from the Hotel. Staff of the hotel were courteous and always very helpful. Our hotel room was clean although a bit too small. The window opened only a few inches so it could get hot and stuffy during the night. However considering everything we were satisfied with the hotel and would recommend it to couples and singles visiting Glasgow.
Obviously unrenovated room

I found the experience less than I had hoped for, though there were a few really good points -- (1) the young man on staff when we arrived was exceptionally courteous and helpful. After I realized leaving from mid Glasgow to get to the airport for early Thursday morning was going to be very stressful, he arranged to have us move to the Airport Ramada for our second night. (2)the renovated dining room is a promise of a much-needed facelift and upgrade in services. I can only hope the room renovations match the quality of the dining room renovation. Food was very good as well. (3) location -- close to food and the double decker bus tour and some truly amazing architecture were very positive aspects. Now to the negative aspects: We had a twin room. The bed I slept in was very uncomfortable. Sproinging springs and the distinct feeling of being pitched to the floor whenever I turned to the left side made me go nearly the whole night with no sleep. I have slept on camp cots that were more comfortable than the bed I slept in. Though not dirty, the room was grungy -- peeling wall paper always makes a room "feel" dirty even if it isn't. Good luck with the renovations. I hope the deficiencies I mentioned will be resolved. I would try the Ramada Glasgow City hotel again after renovations as I feel the hotel presented itself in less than an ideal way while under renovations
Broadband was available as part of a package with films at 19.99 per day - this is expensive just to check your e.mails - the library across the road provides broadband free Two single beds. Although it was a non smoking room it was apparent that smoking had taken place in the room at some point because of the atmosphere.
At this price maybe a continental breakfast could have been included A bit too warm but otherwise no complaints
on our return in the late evening we asked for coffee in the bar but were advised that we could only have the coffee which had been left from breakfast. on check in we were allocated a double bed although we had requested twin. this was quickly rectified however.
