Our stay at the hotel was comfortable and very family friendly. Booking in was quick. We had our granddaughter with us and we were provided with a cot for her. The room was a little cramped and next time I may have to book one of the larger rooms. When I requested a highchair I was disappointed to find that it had not been cleaned since the last time it was used and I needed to use babywipes to clean it before letting my granddaughter use it. The staff in the bar were helpful however, we ordered food just after arrival and we had to ask what happened as it had not arrived after 1/2 an hour. The member of staff apologised and we were not charged for the order, which I felt was a nice gesture. I had not realised that I was overcharged on the bill until I got home to find a letter from the hotel. I was extremely impressed by the speed of the accountants in realising I had been overcharged and the money refunded to my card immediately. The hotel facilities are excellent, swimming pool, spa and internet connection if needed and the restaurants but, I believe that the bar area carpetting could do with being replaced. Over allI would give the hotel a 7 out of 10. Some improvement on the catering side may be beneficial as well. Staff are always very helpful, corteous and friendly.
The hotel is in a good location just of the M1 at J28 and is a great place to stay for touring the local area and not too far from places like Chatsworth house, Matlock Bath and the dales. The Hotel is a good standard for a 4 star and I would recommend using the restaurant and pre-booking the breakfast.
Staff
I dealt with Emma Fairhurst, the duty manager, whilst staying there and she was excellent in helping us with any queries.

Restaurant was cold as was the bar area. Television reception in our room was very poor.
Renaissance Derby
This Hotel was in a very good location for the peak district and other places of interest in the area. It is right on J28 of the M1. Be warey if using a sat nav heading north on the M1 because it will send you up to J29 as it thinks the hotel is on the south bound slip road. All the staff were very friendly and the Hotel was clean. We made good use of the pool and spa. very nice. The food at breakfast was exeptional with lots of choice. Unfortunatly the internet charges were to expensive as was the movies on pay per view. I would book another visit at this hotel and would recomend it to my friends and family.
Signage from the M1 motorway could be better. The border trees and foliage blocked the hotel sign.
Breakfast fantastic. Provisions in room good. Adequate coffee & tea facilities. TV. lovely sheets & duvet. bath very small.
It would have been nice to have been given replacement toiletries in the bathroom.
room service food was dire no soap no shampoo
