Zermatt is a car free city. Private traffic is only permitted up to Tasch (5 kilometre before Zermatt), and the road between Tasch and Zermatt is also closed to public transport. Multi-storey car parks (2,900 places; 2,000 of which in the Matterhorn Terminal Tasch) and public car parks (900 places) are available to you in Tasch. Some of the multi-storey car parks also have outside parking spaces, and offer a taxi service to and from Zermatt. The shuttle trains of the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway run between Tasch and Zermatt every 20 minutes.
Visitors travelling from Geneva should change at Visp or Brig (not all express trains stop at Visp). If you are coming from Basel, Zurich, Berne or Milan, change at Brig. Passengers on the Glacier Express from Chur or St. Moritz can travel directly to Zermatt!
