each year we visit a Cathedral City, and Exeter is now high up on our "favourites" list. Not only was the cathedral and its grounds stunning, the hotel was an absolute joy. The room we had must have one of the best views in the UK. From the moment we arrived the staff looked after us very well, they were knowledgeable about what was on in the location and were able to give us directions when asked. We dined in the Hotel restaurant and had pre and after dinner drinks in the Champagne Bar, the whole experience was very special, and again the staff (mainly young) in both the restaurant and bar were very helpfull and courteous. If I could find one fault it would be that there was not a full length mirror in the room, which is important to us ladies who like to dress for dinner. I will certainly be going back and have recommended the hotel to my friends.

situated on cathedral green in the heart of Exeter, the royal clarenc provides perfect access to all aspects of the city. Under 10 minutes form Exeter Central station it's also possible to travel around Devon from this location. Great champagne bar and Cafe Bar. Perfect room with a great view and quite possibly the best bed I have ever slept in.

would recommend it was superb but you had not informed them of our booking
Excellent restaurant The chocolates in the room were passed their sale by date. House keeping failed to replace the tea and coffee on the second day.
Easily the best position in Exeter. Loading a problem because no parking outside hotel, and parking supplied nearby but expensive. The reception clerk informed us that it was "the best room in the hotel". I would probably agree.
Room 112 - Bathroom very small and a wash basin impossibly to use especially for shaving.
I first stayed at the Royal Clarence in 2004 and on the basis of my enjoyment and satisfaction; returned with my wife this year. Our expectations were exceeded and we regard this as one of the very best hotels that we have stayed in. The modernisation of the room and bathroom has been exceptionally well achieved and has made a comfortable hotel even more so.
