The location was very misleading on the website, it is NOT 5 minute walk from the royal mile, it is a 25 minute bus ride. The food served on the first 2 days was good and fair but on the 3rd day, the food was substandard, due to the fact that the waitress was very sick with a bad cold and she got our order wrong and was NOT listening to what we requested. However, despite all that, the staff were very helpful and accommodating when we requested an upgrade to a bigger room.

a place to lay your head Reviewer: Laura Emily Molson Date of review: 31 October 2007 Recommends this hotel: Neutral Recommended for: Business Room Hotel Facilities 3 Bed 2 Ambience 3 Cleanliness 3 Service 2 Room Size 1 Location 4 Amenities 3 Value for Money 2 this hotel was not bad for a couple nights stay but as it has no lifts getting up to the second floor with all our luggage and no help was interesting, and it was long walk after a long day sight seeing. the second floor was up some dodgy winding stairs and the room was in the ceiling. not always a problem but when i'm 5'4 and i have to duck i think its a bit low. our room was small and although not dirty the cupboards were dusty, it felt like they had pulled this one out of retirement just for us!! i suspect the first floor rooms may have been nicer, the whole look and feel was much grander, but not sure it would be worth the cost. big bonus is the car park but get there early its not big enough for everyone!!!

It had all i needed for the duration of my stay.

A very damp and draughty room. I had to block the "gale" coming into the room by using curtains in gaps!

Bed: Althogh the linen was clean there were some extremely ugly and disgusting spots on the blanket which were clearly visible through the linen.
