There is a shopping mall across the street, it's always convenient. Most of the staff was helpful and courteous. There are a few cons: swimming pool much smaller than on the picture, hotel is located 5-10 min away from a subway/bus station, and you'll need it since the hotel is not located downtown. It's actually in a rather uninteresting area, lots of office buildings in construction and a busy highway roundabout/highway nearby. Definitely worth thinking about, don't expect a charming neighborhood with restaurants nearby. Had one bad experience on the last night: We wanted to have a beer from the mini-bar before going back out for dinner, but realized that all beers (and some other drinks) had been emptied, refilled with water and re-capped. It was quite easy to see, I wonder why the personal did not check on it, or missed it. When we asked the reception about it, they send the bellboy, who said he was going to bring back some more drinks. He never came back. No answer from the reception when we tried to reach them. After a long wait we decided to skip the beer and go out anyway, and saw both the receptionist and the bellboy in the lobby, not looking busy. We asked why they did not bring us new bottles. Ensued a long conversation where the bellboy said he never told us he would come back with new bottles. The receptionist just said we could get drinks from the bar downstairs. We clearly understood they thought we had tried to trick them with the drinks, and as a punishement they did not want to refill the minibar afterall (or answer our phonecalls when we were trying to reach them). What a nice feeling! We complained to the morning receptionist the next day, and got free breakfast. Still, paying a fair amount of money to stay at a **** hotel and being suspected of stealing some 2 euros drinks is NOT a nice feeling. It's their job to check on the minibar between clients. The bellboy saying he never todl us he would come back (probably because his boss told him not to) was a straight lie to our faces. Rooms are great and clean, it's just that part of the personal was unprofessionnal.

We got great value for money given the quality of the hotel and compared to what others paid for similar hotels during the same time.

My 4-Nights at the Hotel Diagonal Reviewer: Emmanuel Adesioye Date of review: 26 September 2007 Recommends this hotel: YES Recommended for: Leisure Room Hotel Facilities 3 Bed 5 Ambience 4 Cleanliness 5 Service 2 Room Size 3 Location 3 Amenities 4 Value for Money 4 The Diagonal was not as central as I expected from the stuff I read on the Web but no problem, it was only 5 stops on the subway from Cataluynia, which is really the town center. I loved the decor, kind of minimalist and contemporary. Room service was good. Requests for an Iron and tea were promptly attended to (within 3 minutes). Two negatives. I own my own property and would hate to think that each time I took a shower, I was setting myself up for some future hefty redecoration bills. The seal between the shower and the bedroom leaks and I did notice deterioration of the lovely woodwork on the other side of the shower, by the bed. This suggests to me that water seeps through the seal around the shower. The second negative I am sorry to report is that on checkout, I observed that my bill had been loaded, to the tune of about 48 Euro with drinks I was meant to have consumed. About 38 Euro of that was in the Terrace Bar. I don't even know where the Terrace Bar is located in the Hotel but gathered that it was on one of the upper floors. Although the receipts had my room number and my name, the signatures were forged and bore no similarity whatsoever to my signature. The checkout staff confirmed this and duly reduced my bill. Whilst I may recommend the Diagonal, I would also have to warn that hotel bills should be thoroughly scrutinised. My gut feeling is that the ground floor barman may have been entertaining his friends on my behalf. Otherwise, staff were courteous and helpful.

The rooms were very comfortable, the bed was perfect and the bathroom was large and spotless. Unfortunatly we had a view over what almost appeared a waste landland it was a little out of the main area for a tourist. However I would recommend the hotel for its comfort and the fact that it was spotlessly clean. The pool on the roof was alo fantastic.
