The room (one of the nineteen in the hotel) was clean, spacious and typical of a Georgian building. Reception provided guides to the city and popular bus tours. There is a token resident bar which doesn't really live up to the name, so the hotel is quiet at night and is perfect for those requiring an early start. Continental breakfast is provided and cooked breakfasts can be ordered at an extra charge. Overall, the hotel provided a quality service at a reasonable price, particularly for a city centre location.

My main complaint with this hotel is the bathrooms. The first room we stayed in had a shower over the bath. But had see-through net curtains, so all our bathroom usage was visible to the opposite side of the street. I wasn't told why we had to change rooms for the second night. The second bathroom, overlooking the street again, was the same. After taking a bath, where the spa jets were not working, I found I was completely unable to empty it. I had to leave the room next day, with a bath full of 'used' cold water. The design of the separate shower is ridiculous. The fixed showerhead sprayed water straight out of the shower door. By the time I realised this was happening, and had the water at a comfortable temperature, the floor was thoroughly flooded. *The bathrooms need proper curtains or blinds. *The showerhead in Room 9, needs re-positioning. The room was extremely noisey

I should have contacted the night porter to get more bedding, but I didn't realise the hotel had this!
