Great Accommodations, Great Price, Great Location

We thoroughly enjoyed this hotel and its accommodations. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the location is great, just about a mile from the Royal Mile. It's also easy to find and with a pub located in the hotel, it was nice to be able to come in from a long day of sightseeing and enjoy a pint before going up to the room. I would recommend this hotel to just about anyone. The one negative is that they didn't have a business center or a computer with internet available to guests, so if you are traveling on business and you don't have an air card, you may want to stay somewhere where they offer internet access.
Pleasant experience
My wife & I stayed here for one night in Nov '08 on our way through Edinburgh. We were very pleasantly surprised by the size of the room (quite spacious) and the fittings in the room. It was quite nicely outfitted with a flat-screen TV and wired and wireless internet. The furnishings and fixtures were much more up-scale than we would have anticipated. Quite modern and very well done. Elegant is the term that comes to mind. It was very easy to get to (shortish walk) from both the train & bus stations and right across the street from a bus stop for the shuttle to the airport. We had beers & nachos in the pub downstairs and found the service & food to be good and the beer excellent.

Staff very helpful and curteous, unfortuately after eating elsewhere for dinner and having one glass of wine I was told I was too drunk to be served in the residents bar. Later after a few drinks elsewhere we complained to a different manager who said we were prefectly fine and she would have no problem serving us. Didnt eat there so dont know about food. Room very clean. Double bed uncomfortable as it was two single beds pushed together! Very convient location, just on princes street with resturants, pubs and shops two seconds away.

Atrocious place. No one helped us bring our luggage in, although two employees were chatting at the check-in desk and looked our way and saw us struggling to get through the door. The room was not up to our standards of clean -- sticky floor. And the whole place felt like a dungeon. No way of getting off an elevator and walking to your room without having to carry stuff up or down stairs. After we saw the room, we left immediately and went to another hotel, spending twice as much. I don't know how they stay in business.
Very friendly staff (especially the reception staff). Would'nt hesitate to recommend. Great location. Rooms very modern and welcoming. Only gripe is that there was a shortage of plug sockets around the mirror in the room, but it would'nt put us off returning. Lovely breakfast too!
small
