A nice hotel for leisure

I would rate this hotel as a nice hotel worth to stay in Cardiff. It locates near train station and busy St. Mary street, but quite enough for good sleep at night.

I found it very difficult to find the hotel using the instructions on the web site - it does not state that St. Mary's Road is inaccessible to cars. Car parking was also difficult.
Well located
If you're looking for a hotel close to the train station, with ultra-modern decor, and within easy walking distance of the centre of Cardiff, this is the place to stay. It is literally 3 minutes walk from the central train station, a generous continental breakfast is included, and numerous restaurants and pubs are located within a 10 minute walk. Within 15-20 minutes walk are the castle, the parklands behind it, the art gallery and Cardiff University. Millenium Stadium is also nearby. Staff are friendly and helpful and the front desk is staffed 24/7. There are a few downsides to this hotel. It is in the middle of the drinking district, so expect lots of noise till late on Friday and Saturday nights. I stayed Sunday and Monday, though, and didn't have any problem. Access at all times requires being buzzed in after getting the attention of the person on the front desk via an intercom, which makes it awkward if you've arranged to meet someone staying in another hotel in the lobby. The entrance is also a little difficult to find. There are two (one off St Mary's, the other off the street on the other side of the building), both are up the street beyond the entrances to O'Neill's, the Irish theme pub that occupies the ground floor. If you're wheeling a suitcase, don't use the St Mary's St entrance as it has steps (and then another set of steps down towards the lift which takes you up to the lobby). There was also a problem with the keycard to the room, which needed to be reset at the front desk after 24 hours. The bedding is continental, so if you don't sleep well with feather pillows and only a doona, you are unlikely to get a restful night's sleep, especially in summer. All in all, however, the lovely modern decor, the breakfast, the pleasant staff and the location outweigh any inconveniences. Its proximity to the train station and to everything else alone make it an excellent choice, especially during the week. If you're a party animal yourself, you aren't going to be disturbed by the noise on the weekends.
Great location. Good directions on website. Nice staff. Need to fix problem with key cards resetting themselves frequently. Nice, comfortable room. Would have been nice to have a luggage rack.

mistakes made on the bill...which delayed our departure....charged for bar food and drinks which we didn't have.Breakfast disappointing..only continental and hadn't known that initially when making the booking..very crowded room, had to wait in a queue!Service was bad, seemed uninterested in providing any service..had cold coffee and tea and no toast although had requested it!Had very little sleep due to noise till early morning in the street..so would not book again on a Saturday night!!!!Reception staff were very welcoming.Pity about having to leave car in car park...was stressful worrying about it's security overnight. very modern and well styled for comfort and relaxation.Very impressively furnished.
Breakfast was of poor standard. Room was very cold - unable to close windows completely
