Therefore we very appreciated the fact that the hotel was very close to the bus station. We received a warm welcome. They suggested we should have a salad on the terrasse and a glass of wine since the restaurants are closed until 7pm. The view, as the name of the hotel indicates, was spectacular. Our room was very clean and cozy. We had a huge private terrasse overlooking the entire coast line. Beautiful ! The daily breakfast was very good. The dinners at the hotel were a rich homemade cusine. Praiano is a very quiet town compared to Positano and Amalfi which we enjoyed very much. Great hiking trails if you do not mind the hundreds of steps. Great bus connections to all the other destinations. We definately want to come back !

The first night was fantastic - the staff were helpful and showed us to a beautiful room with a private balcony and breathtaking views. The next morning, however, we were woken to the news that due to a mistake made by one of their staff we were moved to a different room - a room that more closely resembled a cell with only one window looking out onto a brick wall. Furthermore, we were charged the same amount for the "pleasure" of staying there as we would have been had we remained in our original room. When trying to leave (bearing in mind we had a flight to catch) we discovered the original taking of our credit card details was just a guarantee and were forced to pay by another credit card as the inept staff did not seem to quite grasp how a card machine works. Frustrating to watch, I assure you. This situation was made more difficult and irritating by the hotel owner consistently wandering off mid-conversation or muttering in Italian and German to other guests while making no attempt to understand when we spoke in Italian to him. Overall, despite its convenient location in Praiano and its potential to have lovely rooms, the service was disappointing. If you do book, make sure you get a sea view - or any view.

Better instructions on checking in (the desk was not accessible by car and quite a distance from the road). Insect were an issue at night without screens. We learned from other guests that the hotel had a plug in insect repeller that would have been good to have been available at check in.
