The building and location are stunning, especially in the moonlight, and the hotel has an excellent pool area, attractive terrace and loggia. The staff were delghtful; helpful and welcoming. The restaurant was of high quality, with excellent service and superb local foods and wines.The location is convenient, lying off the main Lucca to Pisa highway, but far enough from the traffic to provide a very peaceful location, above the small village of Santa Maria del Giudice. There are convenient local buses to Lucca and Pisa and a direct bus to Pisa airport from the main road, though taxi to the airport, (30mins) was a reasonable price (45Euro-ish). Most guests use their own cars, facilitating visits to the main cities of Tuscany and the coast. There were several families having a good time too. Our visit was during the latter part of August, the annual holiday period, so quiet and with few additional facilites open in the area.
